To get started, you’ll need a few tools. First, download Zadig v2.8 to install the necessary QUSB_BULK drivers. Next, grab the z60-toolbox.zip (password: xda), which provides a graphical interface for flashing and extracting images. Once you’ve installed Zadig, connect your device in EDL mode (Emergency Download Mode). You can do this manually by powering off the phone, holding Volume Up and Down simultaneously, and connecting it to your PC — or use the command adb reboot edl if USB debugging is enabled.

After your phone is in EDL mode, launch Zadig, select "List All Devices", choose QUSB_BULK, and install the driver. Then open the extracted toolbox and run it. Use the interface to flash the engineering bootloader (abl.img) and extract your current init_boot.img, which is needed if you plan to root the device using Magisk. Once those steps are complete, reboot the device into fastboot mode with adb reboot bootloader.

Finally, to unlock the bootloader, run the command fastboot flashing unlock. Your phone will now have an unlocked bootloader, allowing full customization and root access. Remember: before installing OTA updates, always restore the original abl.img and unpatched init_boot.img to avoid system conflicts. And if you ever wish to relock your bootloader, you can do so with fastboot flashing lock — just avoid using any “restore to production” functions unless you're sure, as they can cause serious issues.
